Vertical Wiping Systems

QED's Vertical Wire Wiping Systems are built to process multiple strands of steel wire exiting vertically from a Galvanizing, Galfan^® or Aluminum furnace.  The wiping assembly is constructed to accommodate the latest generation N₂, Gas-Gravel, Charcoal or Vertical Pad modules.  Complete with a rugged tower structure, our systems cover most coating classes and wire speed requirements.

General Description

The QED Vertical Wiping Tower is built of heavy structural steel beams and columns for superior strength and to minimize vibration. Our non-slip checker-plate platform floor is edged by a kick-plate to prevent water spillage onto the liquid metal below, an important safety feature. The tower platform provides easy access to the upper wire field, secondary quench tank, wax tank and drip wipes.

Our primary quench assembly is suspended below the platform floor on tracks that allow for height adjustment. Each wire is cooled by up to four individual streams of low velocity water. An air knife with flow control valve is located below the primary quench to prevent water entering the wiping media. Like all QED equipment our Nitrogen, Gas-Gravel, Charcoal or Vertical Pad Wiping modules are custom designed and are interchangeably mounted on the Vertical Tower.
