Pad Wiping Systems

General Description

QED Pad Wiping Systems remove excess zinc, leaving a smooth, bright  finish on the wires.  A commercial coating is applied to each wire as it exits the galvanizer between a set of two rectangular pads .  Wiping pressure is adjusted by individual screw clamping mechanisms compressing each set of pads together.  After wiping, the wires exit the back side of the pads directly into individual quench tubes that cool the wires to ambient temperature. Axial clamping mechanisms press these tubes into the back face of the pad sets, providing water tight seals. Fresh water is supplied to the front end of each quench tube through a flexible hose and flow control valve from a common supply header. The water exits the back end of the tube, with the wire, and falls into a special catch basin integrated into the structure. The QED design permits easy access and operation.

QED supplies optional water re-circulating and cooling systems complete with pump, cooling tower, holding tank, valves and piping. We also supply pads in a variety of styles and materials including: ceramic fiber, aramid fiber, fiberglass, carbon fiber, mixed materials and asbestos.

All our Pad Wiping System are ruggedly constructed of structural steel sections and mild steel plate and will be custom designed to suit your wire diameters, wire pitch and galvanizer exit configuration. The Vertical Pad System comes in modular units for mounting beneath a tower structure. The Angled Pad Wiping System is designed for mounting on the top plate of a galvanizer base.
